Within imec’s image sensors and imaging department, our group’s research activities focus on the development of novel imaging systems, built on top of imec technology differentiators. Current projects vary from integrated spectral filters that are tuned to specific customer requirements, to full hyperspectral camera systems and extremely compact lens-free microscopes. Such technologies require a multidisciplinary approach within a team that has expertise in electronics, material sciences, optics, software and a drive to get things done. Especially for our work building next-generation sensing systems, we are looking for an experienced electro-optical engineer that has experience in turning prototypes into products.
We are looking for an expert in productization of cameras and optical systems, with a strong technical background in both manufacturing and test. The systems include different components, from the camera boards, image sensors, optics and embedded computing, as well different interfaces and peripherals. You will take working prototypes and define and execute the path towards a product: evaluate and select sub-components and suppliers, define test planning and manufacturing plan, work with subcontractors and suppliers. You will validate design modifications and requirements with the application engineers, optics designers, materials and processing experts and software engineers towards the full imaging product.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Analyze current prototypes and build a plan for productization,
- Revisit important designs decisions, taking into account manufacturability and design for test,
- Define test plan,
- Specify and select subsystem components and select subcontractors and suppliers,
- Collaborate with specialists from our cross-disciplinary design and technology teams,
- Work according to agreed customer timelines and report on progress internally and to customers,
- Manage time effectively according to aggressive project schedules and quickly adapt to new project requirements.
You have a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial camera or imaging product definition. You are an expert in setting up production and test of cameras or imaging systems. You have in-depth knowledge of industrial requirements, design for manufacturability and test, standardization, supply chain management. You have experience in an R&D environment with an interdisciplinary team. You are a team player with excellent communication skills and fluent in English.
