Instrumentation Engineer for Life Science Technologies

We are looking for an engineer with hands-on experience in design, assembly and automation of test stands for life sciences applications. The candidate should be highly motivated to work in a lab environment on a daily basis together with our design engineers and application scientists.
This person will have to:
- design or adapt laboratory setups;
- automate test stands that include optical, fluidic, mechanical and electrical components;
- interface with external vendors for selection of components or procurement of customized parts;
- work according to agreed customer timelines and report on progress;
- design and execute test plans together with application scientists;
- provide trouble-shooting and debugging support;
- work closely with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and biologists.
You have at least a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other equivalent degree with 5 years of experience in building custom instrumentation. It is essential that you are a hands-on person, familiar with mechanical assembly practices and electrical systems. Experience in machining/customizing parts and cable assemblies is a plus. You have experience using Labview for automation of test equipment. Other programing languages are a plus. You are familiar with common operating systems (Windows, Linux is a plus) and hardware control protocols. You are proficient in mechanical design/assembly using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD package. You are familiar with test stand design and trouble-shooting. You are a team player with experience working in an R&D environment. You are fluent in English and have excellent communication skills.
