For more than 20 years, imec has been offering a prototyping and production service to companies, known as EUROPRACTICE. Imec helps customers to design chips and bring it to the prototype and production stage at top chip foundries. Imec gives customers specialized technical advice on design of chips and on packaging and testing. Our list of customers includes more than 900 universities and companies worldwide. For the further extension of these services, we are looking for a motivated engineer. As a Chip Design Support Engineer, you are the technical coordinator and interface between the world-class chip foundries (chip manufacturing plants) and our customers. You will oversee the entire process of tape out.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:
You check and guarantee the quality of chips, designed by our international customers. You prepare them for fabrication at the foundries and assist the customer with final sign-off (‘go’ for fabrication). You do this with the help of the most advanced CAD software programs.
You provide our customers the chip design guidelines, design rules, libraries and design kits and assist them in installing and using them before and during the chip design.
You also have technical discussions with our customers and you guide them on the technical side of their chip designs. You will assist the sales team in technical discussions.
Finally, you have technical discussions with the production plants that manufacture these chips.
You have a Master’s degree in Engineering Technology (Electronics). Relevant experience of 3 to 5 years is plus. You have a strong interest in fabrication of chips (integrated circuits). Knowledge of chip-fabrication techniques is a must. You have experience in project-based work. You are client-oriented, flexible and like taking initiatives. You are proactive in customer support. A good knowledge of English is mandatory.
