Currently we are looking for a motivated Postdoc Optical Material for visible light photonics modulators.

As part of its CMORE technology development, imec is currently looking into novel technologies in the field of tunable photonics on chip, with the aim to develop novel type of device such as ranging sensors and displays by integrating a variety of novel materials with variable refractive index on chip.
As a post-doctoral researcher, you will contribute to the development of such devices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Optical Material identification & sourcing (in house and externally) (50%)
- Material & device characterization (40%)
- Reporting to internal and external stakeholders including imec partners and customers (5%)
- Reporting to the scientific community at conferences or in scientific journals (5%)
This postdoctoral position is funded by imec through KU Leuven. Because of the specific financing statute which targets international mobility for postdocs, only candidates who did not stay or work/study in Belgium for more than 24 months in the past 3 years can be considered for the position (short stays such as holiday, participation in conferences, etc. are not taken into account).
You obtained a Ph.D. of Science in Engineering Physics, with a focus on photonics. You have 3+ years’ experience in optical materials, 2+ years hands-on experience in fabrication of photonic devices and 2+ years’ experience in characterization of electro-optic devices. Experience with tunable optical material is an asset. You are an enthusiastic team player, yet able to independently solve complex problems with limited supervision. You have excellent English communication skills and are willing to work in a multicultural environment.
