Job Description:

Miniaturisation of system size is a driving force in most electronics applications. The continuous scaling of IC’s, and the advent of more compact system integration technologies make this possible. Within its affiliation programs and bilateral initiatives, imec contributes to the state of the art in a significant manner. Thanks to recent advances in semiconductor processing, there is an ever increasing requirement for metrology solutions delivering in-line results. These solutions will be necessary to allow wafer level characterisation of processes and materials.

As semiconductor circuitry is driven towards ever smaller dimensions and tighter limits of control, data from in-line measurements become an important source of information to control the production processes. Your responsibility will be to make sure that the numbers tell the correct tale.

As Support Engineer for In-Line Metrology, you will be assigned the responsibility over a number of tools and techniques: 
 

  • Your objective is to make sure your measurement tools operate with desired accuracy and precision, setting-up correct working procedures and good practices to assure measurement recipe integrity, looking after correct calibration and SPC follow-up.
  • You will help your development colleagues in introducing new techniques and practices.
  • You will set up training programs for the users.
  • You will advise internal customers on the capabilities of your tools.
  • You will assist in troubleshooting issues related to in-line measurements.

Requirements:

Profile
You have a Master in Industrial Sciences or a Master of Science or Engineering. You have a strong interest in how things are measured, how data is interpreted and how data can be used to ensure high quality results are achieved. You are working autonomously, well organised, with a good attention to detail and set high standards in all you do. You are able to work within cross disciplined technical teams as required. You are an enthusiastic and creative team player with strong communication and reporting skills. Given the international character of imec, good knowledge of English is essential. You are prepared to work in 3 shifts (i.e. morning/afternoon and one weekend every three weeks).
