Postdoctoral and PhD positions to work with Dr. Manuel Melle-Franco at University of Minho, Computer Science and Technology Center , Braga, Portugal

Job Description:

We are looking for outstanding candidates to work in theoretical and computational studies of carbon nanomaterials. Current research interests comprise but are not limited to:

(i) electronic properties of carbon nanomaterials

(ii) 3D structure of 2D graphene and GNRs 

(iii) chemical reactivity and functionalization of carbon nanomaterials

(iv) In-silico study of unknown and uncharacterized materials, nanopores, nanocones, etc.



We do QM, Molecular Mechanics, multiscale and mesoscopic simulations with a large number of external and locally modified codes. Programming and  developing models is encouraged, but not mandatory.

 Our group runs a cluster with > 500 cores and several state of the art GPUs.  Programming and software development projects are also available.

Postdoc fellowships are funded for six years (3 + 3) and are open to all nationalities. 

Ph.D. Scholarships are funded for four years (3+1) and are ONLY available for european citizens or foreigners with permanent residence in Portugal.




A degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or computer science or equivalent is mandatory.
