Organization Description:
The Institut Català de Nanotecnologia is a non-profit research institute, created in July 2003 by the Ministry of Universities, Research and Information Society of the Catalan Government and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), who remain its patrons.

The ICN works concurrently in Scientific Research in Nanoscience, primarily via European and national collaborative projects, and in Technology Research, Nanotechnology, in areas of internal expertise and co-development with private industry. Its aim is to achieve the highest level of scientific and technological excellence in both fields, nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Job Description:
The Thesis will be focused on synthesizing novel bulk and nanoscale MOFs and on developing novel methodologies to control their spatial organization (self-assembly) to generate high-level MOF-based superstructures with myriad applications, such as drug-delivery systems and gas adsorption. In an excellent basic and applied research environment (see www.nanoup.org), the candidate will acquire a great experience in organic, inorganic and supramolecular synthesis, nanotechnology, and biology as well as in working with a wide range of optical and electronic microscopies, basic spectroscopies, biological techniques, etc. The Thesis will be highly interdisciplinary, involving areas ranging from Nanotechnology, Chemistry to Biology and Medicine.
Requirements:

The candidate must have a Chemistry or Nanotechnology Degree with a minimum academic grade of 2 in the Spanish Academic System (for questions in this point please contact marta.gonzalez@icn.cat).

The candidate must have good English skills.

Having a Master in Chemistry, Materials Science or Nanotechnology will be highly regarded
