In our Process Technology (PT) unit, we are currently looking for a (m/f) Photonics Engineer for Silicon Photonics Device Integration.
Join the Silicon Photonics team at imec’s R&D headquarters located in the heart of Europe and help in revolutionizing next-generation optical interconnects based on silicon.
As a Photonics Device & Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Generating, developing and demonstrating novel device concepts to push the state of the art in both active and passive silicon photonics performance.
Contributing to process integration to manufacture novel devices in an advanced CMOS pilot line.
Defining design-for-manufacturability (DfM) and design-for-test (DfT) methodologies for photonic components.
Defining and carrying out development plans, including design of experiment, risk mitigation and evaluation.
Streamlining project execution by interacting with process engineers, process assistants, test and reliability engineers as well as with industrial residents throughout the 3D and Optical Technologies department, Process Development department and FAB operations unit.
Reporting project results to internal stakeholders, including peers across team/group/unit and to external stakeholders including imec partners and customers.
Reporting to the scientific community at conferences and in scientific journals.
Staying on top of the state of the art within your competence domain and benchmarking imec’s solutions.
You obtained a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics, with a focus on semiconductor devices physics and semiconductor process technology.
You have at least 3 years experience in photonics device design and simulation.
You have at least 2 years experience in semiconductor processing and in high-speed electro-optic device characterization.
You are an enthusiastic team player, and you can solve complex problems independently with limited supervision, in a fast-paced and highly challenging environment.
You can plan, drive and complete complex, multi-disciplinary projects on schedule and with a focus on quality.
You have excellent English communication skills and are willing to work in a multicultural environment.
