The Advanced Patterning Center (APC) is a joint initiative launched by imec and ASML to address the upcoming scaling challenges associated with the chip industry’s move towards single digit nanometer dimensions. The center is located at the imec campus in Leuven (near Brussels) and is expected to grow continuously over the next couple of years. The APC is associated with the imec Supplier Hub, an initiative involving many leading edge semiconductor equipment suppliers, aimed at creating a collaborative environment to investigate the practical interactions between all the different steps in the chip patterning process. The APC and Supplier Hub will use actual devices to analyze and optimize process steps as well as materials and device architecture choices, while applying integrated metrology. For the APC we are looking for an R&D Engineer Lithography Imaging and Simulation (m/f).
Your main responsibilities will be:
Imaging exploration of advanced (EUV and/or 193 nm) lithography by illumination and mask optimization through lithography simulation work and experiments in the imec 300mm cleanroom using the most advanced lithography equipment.
Follow all recent developments in the field through detailed literature study.
Developing an expertise in lithography simulation software in support of different projects within your team.
Running your own projects in the area of lithography imaging exploration. This will involve performing both simulations and experiments (wafer exposures and evaluation by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy)). The focus is on understanding underlying mechanisms or phenomena by comparing experiments to simulations and bringing this thorough analysis of the data into a concise report.
Knowledge transfer to the different partners and colleagues through regular reporting and presenting of the main results.
You have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Nano-engineering.
You have knowledge of and experience in advanced lithography.
You have excellent communication skills in English, as you will work in a multicultural team and closely with our partners.
You are a team player with a strong drive to share your experience and knowledge with colleagues.
You have good networking skills.
You are enthusiastic about working in an environment that is not yet fully established.
You have analytical skills and capability to think out of the box.
