Graphene In Flexible Touch Screens: Samsung To Deliver Update On Driving Forward Commercialisation

(Nanowerk News) This month, Samsung announced a major breakthrough on the roadmap to graphene commercialisation, with a method to synthesize large areas of the material on a semiconductor, using a hydrogen-terminated germanium buffer layer. With touch screens being viewed as one of the graphene’s many revolutionary applications, and production scalability remaining the primary hurdle for commercialisation, this represents a vital step in bringing graphene out of the lab and into the market.
Seungmin Cho, Principal Research Engineer & Group Leader, Samsung, is due to update the industry on progress towards developing flexible touch screens at the upcoming Graphene Supply, Application & Commercialisation 2014 (University Of Manchester, 12th-13th June).

His presentation will assess the availability of graphene and the viability of its flexible and transparent properties for use in consumer electronics, compared to other materials such as ITO. Mechanical robustness and the potential to modify properties through doping will also be examined.
This is the only congress to focus on the commercialisation-critical drivers of supply, quality and integration. Located at the birthplace of graphene, world leading companies from industry, graphene material providers and renowned academics will gather to share major breakthroughs and exclusive announcements.
