DTU Nanotech provides a lot of exciting courses on the master level. The courses are organised in three categories, the Micro, LabChip and Nano course of studies. We recommend that you take either Micro-2, Labchip-2 or Nano-2, as part of your master study. These courses really provide you an outstanding knowledge witin their fields. Based on our career plan you can then choose among the other courses on the master level.
The Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology - DTU Nanotech - is a highly esteemed research institution within the field of micro- and nanotechnology. Applied science, innovation strategies and state-of-the-art technology form our core identity as a scientific institution. We encourage technology transfer and technology development through industry collaboration, and industrial PhD students are an integrated part of our PhD programme.
During the first three years, students receive basic interdisciplinary training in physics, chemistry, biology, molecular biology, mathematics, and computer science. Many of the courses are followed along with students from these core disciplines. In addition, a number of courses address issues specific to the nano-area.
In addition to the undergraduate programs, iNANO hosts a Doctorate school in nanoscience, iNANOschool. Here, students can be admitted with a Master's degree in a traditional (5+3) year model, but at this Faculty, studies are more often carried out following a (4+4) year model where the students are admitted after four years of study and the Master's project becomes an integrated part of the Doctorate which then lasts four years. A special (3+5) year honors program has recently been introduced where very talented students can be admitted to graduate school with a Bachelor's degree.
At the Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen, all BSc programmes are currently only offered in Danish. This also means that all courses at the bachelor's level are offered in Danish, with a few exceptions. For international, non-nordic students, admission to BSc programmes, besides fulfilling the academic admission requirements, is conditioned upon a passed Danish test.
On the master's degree program in Nanoscience you will specialise yourself within your field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. There is a great amount of freedom to choose between the different topics and courses, and to a wide extent it will be possible for you to draw up your own education. You will also have the chance to participate in conferences in Denmark and abroad.
Nanobioscience is a scientific discipline where techniques on a nano-scale are used to understand and utilise the construction of nature and the molecular principles and structures which are the cornerstones of all biology. The purpose of Nanobioscience is for instance to use biological molecules for constructing functional nano-materials with a long list of groundbreaking uses.
