EU consultation on the safety of nanomaterials in cosmetics products

(Nanowerk News) The Scientific Committee on Consumer Products (SCCP) of the European Union is working on a request for a scientific opinion on the Safety of Nanomaterials in Cosmetic Products.
In this context, the safety of various cosmetic products defined as
"any substance or preparation intended to be placed in contact with the various external parts of the human body (epidermis, hair system, nails, lips and external genital organs) or with the teeth and the mucous membranes of the oral cavity with a view exclusively or mainly to cleaning them, perfuming them, changing their appearance and/or correcting body odours and/or protecting them or keeping them in good condition" (Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EEC) will be considered.
Interested parties are invited to submit:
1) Scientific peer reviewed research papers and reviews (later than 2000) on this issue.
2) Data on safety evaluation (later than 2000).
3) Other publicly available, reliable scientific information that may not be easily available and which is directly relevant to this issue.
