New NanoCareer Day at UAlbany NanoCollege
(Nanowerk News) More than 300 middle- and high-school students from throughout Tech Valley got a firsthand look at careers in the emerging field of nanotechnology while attending NanoCareer Day on May 7 at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering ("CNSE") of the University at Albany.

NanoCareer Day is designed to address the critical effort to prepare students for a growing number of nanotechnology-related career opportunities in the Capital Region and New York State - and the national need to stimulate an interest in math and science among America's younger generation.
The daylong event included presentations by CNSE faculty on the emerging science of nanotechnology and the career opportunities it offers; hands-on activities highlighting the exciting advances enabled by nanotechnology research and development; and, tours of CNSE's $4.5 billion Albany NanoTech Complex.
Participating schools, and their counties, included: Averill Park High School (Rensselaer), Cohoes Middle School (Albany), Hudson Falls High School (Washington), Rensselaer Middle School (Rensselaer), Maple Avenue Middle School, Saratoga Springs School District (Saratoga), Glens Falls Central School District (Warren), Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School, Albany City School District (Albany), Union College Science and Technology Entry Program - Oneida Middle School, Central Park Middle School, Guilderland High School, Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School, Schenectady High School (Schenectady), and Academy of Holy Names (Albany).
