Active Sports Fabrics Group Selects NanoHorizon's SmartSilver Additives

(Nanowerk News) Active Sports Fabrics, maker of highly specialized fabrics for the Outdoor and Action Sports apparel industries, has chosen SmartSilver™ antimicrobial additives, developed and produced by NanoHorizons Inc., to further enhance its Eclipse™ Base Layer performance fabrics. SmartSilver provides outstanding anti-odor benefits and material degradation protection without inhibiting the fabrics’ other performance features.
“Outdoor and Action Sports consumers truly value effective anti-odor performance in their apparel,” says Adam Clark of ASF Group in the US. “SmartSilver provides antimicrobial protection that really works plus it won’t wash out or wear off for the expected life of the garment. Another significant advantage is that SmartSilver’s proprietary nanotechnology won’t interfere with Eclipse’s other functional benefits such as wicking and breathability.”
“We are pleased that ASF has selected our SmartSilver antimicrobial additives for their Eclipse Base Layer fabric line,” says Dr. James Delattre, VP Global Marketing at NanoHorizons Inc. “Eclipse Base Layer showcases SmartSilver’s key benefits: easy integration into the manufacturing process, unmatched antimicrobial protection, complete compatibility with other performance additives and finishes, and imperceptible impact on the finished fabric’s softness and comfort features.”
SmartSilver additives are EPA registered. Plus, they are approved by the International Oeko-Tex® Association indicating that they are free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances believed to be hazardous to human health. “SmartSilver’s third-party, independent environmental and human ecology certifications are important to us as well as to the outdoor enthusiasts who wear the fabrics we create,” continues Clark.
ASF’s Eclipse Base Layer fabrics will be marketed to makers of Outdoor and Active Sports apparel with special emphasis on the athletic and hunting markets where effective odor control is essential.
