German Materials Efficiency Prize 2009 - apply now
(Nanowerk News) Rapid price rises in materials over the last year make it clear that the cost of materials is of substantial importance for the competitiveness of German industry. In any manufacturing industry, material costs estimated to be approximately 42 % exceed personnel costs by more than twice (19 %).
The German Materials Efficiency Prize will be awarded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology for the sixth time this year. Medium-size enterprises, which have increased their materials efficiency by innovative solutions in development, design, production and organization, can apply for the award up to 15 October 2009. For the first time, research institutes, which have increased their efficiency in using materials in operational practice by using application-orientated research results, can also apply.
10,000 euro will be granted to each of the five best concepts.
The award ceremony will take place within a conference on the improvement of materials and energy efficiency of medium-size enterprises in Berlin on 1 December 2009.
The BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing has been commissioned to manage this competition. Contact partner is Dr. Franz-George Simon, member in the advisory panel of the German Materials Efficiency Agency (Deutsche Materialeffizienzagentur) and Head of BAM Division IV.3 Waste Treatment and Remedial Engineering.
