Nanotechnology policy framework for addressing nanomaterial risks in California

(Nanowerk News) The Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment at the University of California, San Francisco, has developed a draft set of policy recommendations to address potential health risk from nanomaterials and nanotechnology for the state of California titled: "A Nanotechnology Policy Framework: Policy Recommendations for Addressing Potential Health Risks from Nanomaterials in California".
This draft document addresses the new challenges that nanomaterials present to the policy and risk assessment process because of their unique properties. It draws upon lessons we can learn from past chemical policy experiences and other recent nanotechnology reports in making recommendations for California. There will be a public meeting to discuss the draft document and receive feedback from the Science Advisory Panel and the general public. All public comments must be received by May 5, 2010.
There will be a presentation and discussion of "A Nanotechnology Policy Framework: Policy Recommendations for Addressing Potential Health Risks from Nanomaterials in California" on May 5, 2010 in Room 1 of the Elihu Harris Building located at 1515 Clay Street, Oakland, CA. The discussion will last from 8:30am - 4:00pm and will include information from the Science Advisory Panel who worked on the document. There will also be time for public comment.
