SoC Summit - The Conference on Next Generation SoC Design - Taking Place July 27th at Westin Taipei

(Nanowerk News) The SoC Summit, the conference series detailing next generation SoC Design methodologies, premiers in Taiwan on Tuesday July 27th at the Westin Taipei. Long-time media partner Digitimes is predicting an audience of as many as 400 to attend, drawn by a stellar morning plenary session. Leading off the program is Dr. Alex Shubat, president and CEO of Virage Logic Corp. Dr. Shubat is joined by Sir Robin Saxby, founder and CEO of ARM Ltd. retired; Dr. Shauh-Teh Juang, senior director, design infrastructure marketing at TSMC and Dr. Charles Hsu, Chairman eMemory Technology Inc.
The conference will inform SoC designers of the new requirements confronting them in the nanometer process technology era: the need for early access to next generation process technology to meet a tight time-to-market window and the need for tools and libraries that ensure right-the-first-time process design kits (PDKs). An expected audience of 400 attendees will hear the morning program and attend one of three breakout tracks in the afternoon: Multifunction Smart Devices, Evolving SoCs On-Chip Communications, and Achieving 28nm Success. This year's event is presented by diamond sponsor Virage Logic Corp.; platinum sponsor, eMemory Technology; and gold sponsors Arteris SA, Dolby Laboratories, Magma Design Automation, Inc., Mentor Graphics Corp., and UMC.
"We are extremely pleased to support the SoC Summit as a Diamond Sponsor," said Dr. Alex Shubat, president and CEO of Virage Logic Corp. "Developing complex circuits in a short design cycle and getting it right-the-first-time requires a new approach to design, one that relies heavily on silicon-proven third-party IP from trusted partners, characterized for the latest 40- and 28-nanometer semiconductor process nodes. The SoC Summit will help inform the design community on the latest methods and techniques to achieve right-the-first-time silicon for maximum design-for-profitability."
Special Award Ceremony
A special awards ceremony will be held at the SoC Summit. The Semiconductor Industry Pioneer award will honor a distinguished pioneer who has contributed to the evolution of the semiconductor industry in a way that sustains its continued growth and improvement.
Registration
The SoC Summit registration is now open. Attendance is free of charge and those interested in attending may register at www.socsummit.com.
Co-located Event TechTour 2010
SoC Summit attendees are also invited to attend the Virage Logic TechTour 2010 the day after SoC Summit. TechTour 2010, an informative seminar and lunch will explain why over 400 global customers rely on Virage Logic as their trusted IP partner for a broad range of Semiconductor IP and solutions. The complementary one-day seminar will feature Virage Logic's extensive IP portfolio including the company's recently introduced products. Being held at the Westin Hotel Taipei on July 28, attendees will learn how Virage Logic can help them bring their next generation products to market with greater functionality, energy efficiency, higher quality and all at a lower cost. About the SoC Summit
When Virage Logic acquired ARC International in November 2009, it took over a conference series ARC began in 2006 called ConfigCon, which ran each year in partnership with Digitimes in Taiwan and in Shanghai. Each event attracted an audience of nearly 400 attendees. The conference was also produced in Israel and Silicon Valley with comparable attendance.
Executives from Intel, Microsoft, Toshiba, Real Networks, Silicon Motion, among others provided keynotes at past events. Click here for a short video of past speakers. On July 27th, Virage Logic will continue the conference series rebranded under the new name "SoC Summit". The new conference premiers in Taiwan, and will feature a morning plenary session of keynote speakers followed by three afternoon breakout sessions: Multifunction Smart Devices, Evolving SoCs On-Chip Communications, and Achieving 28nm Success.
The SoC Summit will provide a technical program focusing on higher level goals for the SoC industry. The conference will:
  • Inform SoC designers worldwide of the benefits of creating compelling user experiences in their chips,
  • Explore why this type of design will bring greater profitability to SoC suppliers, and
  • Explain how such designs can be achieved.
  • Past events have been sponsored by major suppliers in the SoC production ecosystems: Cadence Design Systems, Intel, SMIC, and Toshiba Corp. among others.
If you would like to become a sponsor of the SoC Summit and help:
