Australian government will develop a National Nanotechnology Strategy

(Nanowerk News) The Australian government just released its Industry Statement, a 10-year strategic view of Australian industry policy.
The government will provide A$21.5 million (approx US$18 million) over four years for a National Nanotechnology Strategy to ensure Australia captures the full benefits of nanotechnology.
As part of the plan, the government will strengthen the links between CSIRO, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, and business through an additional A$36.2 million National Research Flagship for Niche Manufacturing. This funding will be provided over four years. The Flagship will work with industry to create commercial opportunities from CSIRO research, in particular nanotechnology.
