NNI seeks comments on 2010 National Nanotechnology Strategic Plan

(Nanowerk News) Starting November 1, public comment is invited for thirty days on the draft Strategic Plan for the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), which is posted at the NNI Strategy Portal. The comments period ends on November 30, 2010.
The NNI Strategic Plan is the framework that underpins the nanotechnology work of 25 NNI member agencies. It aims to ensure that advances in nanotechnology R&D and their applications to agency missions and the broader national interest continue unabated in this still-young area of research and development. Its purpose is to facilitate achievement of the NNI vision by laying out guidance for agency leaders, program managers, and the research community regarding planning and implementation of nanotechnology R&D investments and activities.
Sources already providing input on the draft include the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, the National Research Council of the National Academies, public comments accepted in July and August, and the NNI Strategic Planning Stakeholders Workshop that took place July 13-14, 2010, in Arlington, Va.
