Epilight Chooses Veeco's MOCVD Systems for Its New LED Fab in Hefei

(Nanowerk News) Veeco Instruments Inc. announced today that Shanghai Epilight Technology Co., Ltd placed a large multi-tool order for Veeco TurboDisc® K465i™ Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) systems during the fourth quarter of 2010. The equipment is for Epilight's new LED fab at Hefei, China for high-brightness light emitting diode (HB-LED) manufacturing.
Mr. Wendi Liu, President of Epilight commented, "We installed a number of Veeco K465i tools in our Shanghai factory in mid-2010 and have been extremely pleased with their performance in our demanding high-volume LED production facility. We have therefore decided that Veeco equipment should form the foundation of our next round of capacity purchases for the Hefei Epilight fab."
William J. Miller, Ph.D., Executive Vice President, Veeco's Compound Semiconductor Business, commented, "Epilight is one of the top LED makers in China and we are thrilled to be chosen for their latest capacity expansion."
