Magforce Nanotechnologies AG and MT Med Tech Engineering GmbH File Patent Application for Alternating Magnetic Field Application Device
(Nanowerk News) Germany based Magforce Nanotechnologies AG and MT Med Tech Engineering GmbH filed patent application for alternating magnetic field application device for heating magnetic or magnetizable substances in biological tissue. The inventors are Feucht Peter, Bruess Volker and Jordan Andreas.
Magforce Nanotechnologies AG and MT Med Tech Engineering GmbH filed the patent application on Sept. 27, 2010. The patent application number is 2030/MUMNP/2010 A. The international classification number is A61N2/00.According to the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks, "The invention relates to an alternating magnetic field application device for heating magnetic or magentizable substances in biological tissue, particularly for thermal therapy using magnetic nanoparticles, made of a large applicator having a magnetic yoke and two opposing pole shoes separated by a field gap on the magnetic yoke and having two magnetic coils each associated with a pole shoe for generating a substantially homogenous alternating magnetic field of a certain field strength in the field gap, wherein the biological tissue having the field applied thereto can be brought into the field gap as a target field application volume. According to the invention, in the field gap a field concentrator is disposed near the biological tissue as the target field application volume, particularly on or in a patient near a body part to have the field applied, such as a diseased prostate, said concentrator concentrating the alternating magnetic field of the large applicator in the target volume and thereby locally amplifying said field."
MagForce Nanotechnologies AG is a Germany-based company engaged in the provision of nanotechnology solutions for the treatment of cancer. Its non-invasive technology uses magnetic nanoparticles to combat tumors in high temperatures of approximately 46 Celsius degrees, without harmful effect on the healthy tissues. MagForce's range of therapy products and solutions includes NanoTherm, a fluid containing magnetite and ferrous oxide molecules that penetrate deeply into the tumor tissues; NanoPlan, a software platform that facilitates therapy planning and adjusts proper temperatures for the treatment, and MFH-300F, an alternating magnetic field applicator for thermotherapy sessions. The Company is majority-owned by Nanostart AG. MagForce Nanotechnologies AG has one subsidiary, MT MedTech Engineering GmbH.
