Crossing Automation Attains ISO9001:2008 Certification

(Nanowerk News) Crossing Automation, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of fab and tool automation products used by today's foremost semiconductor device and equipment companies, today announced that is has achieved ISO9001:2008 quality management system (QMS) certification from the third party registrar, National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI). Crossing achieved certification on its first attempt with zero major findings.
"This is yet another significant milestone in the history of Crossing Automation," said Bob MacKnight, president and CEO of Crossing Automation. "Not only does it highlight our commitment to best business practices but it demonstrates our maturity as a company. In September 2009, as a pre-revenue start-up, we boldly acquired the assets of Asyst Technologies. Within a few short months, we achieved profitability and strong revenue growth. Much of this success has been due to our commitment to operational excellence. For example, this past year we delivered best-in-class reliability of greater than 99.5 percent. Obtaining ISO9001:2008 certification is a means of ensuring continued delivery of a range of best practices."
ISO9001:2008 registration certifies that the policies, practices and procedures of Crossing Automation are capable to design, manufacture, support, install and service integrated automation solutions for the semiconductor and related industries with the goal of total customer satisfaction. The ISO9001:2008 standard specifies the basic requirements for a QMS that a company must fulfill to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that enhance customers' satisfaction and meet applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Crossing underwent a rigorous assessment process that ended with over fifty hours of third party auditing of the people, processes and systems that run the business to attain certification. This effort was preceded by intensive cross-functional internal audits, implementation of corrective actions and systemic changes to guarantee the business processes met ISO9001:2008 requirements.
"Our next step will be to complement this QMS certification with ISO14001:2004 registration. Representing a natural progression, it will signify a further improvement of our systems to be globally competitive and seamlessly aligned with our supply chain and customer base," added MacKnight.
