Malvern Instruments Shows Latest Developments for Zetasizer Nano at L.A.B.
(Nanowerk News) Malvern® Instruments exhibits the Zetasizer® Nano particle and molecular characterization system at L.A.B. (2-4 October 2007, ExCeL, London, UK) and will also introduce visitors to the latest additions to the company's range of particle characterization, rheology and chemical imaging systems.
Just introduced is a new low volume disposable polystyrene cuvette for the Zetasizer Nano S and ZS systems that enables the size measurement of as little as 40 microlitres of sample. This is less than half the volume possible with previous disposable cuvettes and is thought to be the lowest volume disposable cuvette available for any dynamic light scattering system. Such low volume and high sensitivity capabilities are especially important when analyzing biological materials where it is important to use the smallest amount of material possible.
Earlier this year the introduction of the new 'chromatography flow-mode' option for the Zetasizer Nano enabled the system's use as an in-line chromatography detector for protein applications, conferring the ability to perform Absolute Size Exclusion Chromatography (ASEC). This allows protein size to be measured directly rather than relying on column calibration or additional data from a second detector, and means that molecular weight standards are no longer required to identify oligomeric species or determine protein purity. A downloadable presentation on 'Protein chromatography' is available on the Malvern website at https://www.brainshark.com/malvern/vu?pi=277326372
