Novel implants for neurodegenerative disease: technology promises, clinical challenges

(Nanowerk News) The Frontiers Network of Excellence (in conjunction with IMEC and NanoNed) are pleased to announce a unique event. On April 7, 2008, IMEC (www.imec.be) will host a 1-day interactive event: Novel Implants for Neurodegenerative Disease: Technology Promises, Clinical Challenges
The goal of the meeting is to take stock of the current technology options and promises in R&D and prospect the path from laboratory to the clinic in order to elucidate the non-technical challenges for implant innovation.
Issues such as user practices/needs, regulation, societal and ethical aspects etc. will be explored in a highly interactive multi-stakeholder setting.
If you are a researcher, surgeon, related medic, industrial representative, regulator or other potential stakeholder in implants for neurodegenerative disease, please download the 1st call for expression of interest by clicking on the image in the bottom right of this page.
Participation to the event is free, but restricted to 20 people (to allow for optimum exchange). There are a limited number of scholarships for travel and accomodation (information on request).
Participants will gain an insight into all lengths of the innovation journey and in prospective roadmapping. The outcome will be identification of the key issues for the future and present of implantable technolgoies for neurodegenerative disease.
