International symposium on flexible organic electronics

(Nanowerk News) The first International Symposium on Flexible Organic Electronics (ISFOE) will take place in Halkidiki, Greece, on July 10-11, 2008.
The purpose of the symposium is to bring together scientists and engineers actively involved in the research, development, and manufacturing of flexible organic electronics including organic/inorganic materials, flexible substrates, manufacturing processes, circuit designs, flexible devices, system integrations and product applications, and to discuss current progresses in this emerging field.
The ISFOE will cover the following areas:
  • organic electronic materials (small molecule and polymers);
  • organic/inorganic and hybrid materials and systems;
  • flexible substrates and encapsulation methods and materials;
  • molecular electronics and photonics;
  • self-organised molecules and systems;
  • theory and modelling (materials, components and devices);
  • manufacturing processes (printing, vacuum, chemical);
  • flexible displays and lighting;
  • flexible solar cells;
  • flexible circuits and sensors.
  • In addition, the opening event on the evening of June 9 will be dedicated to the 'Strategy of Europe in Organic Electronics', during which European Commission representatives will present the EU's next steps in the field. Also, coordinators of selected projects funded under the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes (FP6 and FP7) will report on their breakthroughs, future activities and prospects.
