| (Nanowerk News) The sixth NanoEurope will be held in St.Gallen (Switzerland) on September 16 and 17, 2008. The NanoEurope is a European specialist congress in conjunction with a trade show for the transfer of technology and know-how in the field of nanotechnology. This year's focus will be on multifunctional textiles and smart systems and surfaces. In addition, one session will explicitly address management staff and investors who wish to enhance their nanotechnology know-how. Furthermore, the 4th NanoRegulation Conference will be held, which is concerned with voluntary measures for handling risks associated with nanotechnology. | |
| Following last year's successful event, this year's NanoEurope - the sixth - on September 16 and 17 will again offer the specialist community a meeting platform. | Nanotechnology opens up enormous innovation opportunities, but also involves potential health, safety, and environmental risks. As nanomaterials increasingly pour into the marketplace, the calls for improved risk governance and reasonable regulations are becoming louder. In this connection, the concept of voluntary measures such as risk management systems, codes of conduct, or disclosure agreements have become widely noted. The 4th NanoRegulation Conference to be held on September 16 and 17 will provide a well-founded overview over different aspects and experiences with voluntary measures. In addition, the participants will be involved in an international dialog with authorities. The conference is aimed at regulatory authorities, industry, insurance companies, associations, NGOs, politics, the interested public, and the media. | |
