EMERGNANO workshop to address emerging evidence from nanotechnology EHS research

(Nanowerk News) The Safety of Nanoparticles Interdisciplinary Research Centre (SnIRC) is to host a 2 day workshop on October 20th & 21st 2008 at Central Science Laboratories, York, UK to discuss and evaluate EMERGNANO, a major evaluation of emerging evidence from Nanotechnology EH&S research worldwide.
The EMERGNANO project is focussed on helping the UK Government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) capture and critically appraise progress toward addressing the 19 Research Objectives outlined in its nanotechnology agenda, Characterising the Potential Risks Posed by Engineered Nanomaterials - 2nd Report. The study has had a wide remit, including evaluation of studies carried out on a worldwide scale.
The EMERGNANO project's lead consortium, SnIRC, includes the Institute of Occupational Medicine, Edinburgh University, Napier University & Central Science Laboratories (CSL). Also involved in the project are Cranfield University, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and Leeds University.
