Carl Zeiss announces its 2012 'ZEISS on Your Campus' traveling tou

(Nanowerk News) Carl Zeiss Microscopy, a company of the Carl Zeiss Group and leading provider of light, laser-scanning and electron and ion beam microscopes, announces its 2012 “ZEISS on Your Campus” (ZOYC) traveling tour, bringing free workshops designed to educate scientists and their students in the fundamentals of various microscopy techniques to universities across the country. ZOYC provides participants with a unique opportunity to attend educational seminars and take part in workshops. This year’s program focuses on the basics of acquiring images for scientific publication as well as introduces emerging technologies in both light and electron microscopy.
Lectures given focus on topics for students and researchers who are new to microscopy or would like a better understanding of the basics of microscopy and digital imaging in order to improve the quality of their images. Additional lectures are concerned with more advanced topics that will be of interest to both students and experienced microscopy users. Hands-on labs provide students with the opportunity to apply the information learned from the lectures on real equipment and samples while also exploring a variety of practical topics common to day-to-day microscopy work. Systems provided for use include Zeiss’s Axio Vert.A1, Axio Observer, Axio Zoom LSM 700 and CSM 700.
The three-day workshop will be taking place at various locations throughout the United States over the next 2 months. For information on locations and how to participate, please visit www.zeiss.com/zoyc/northamerica.
Attendance at workshops is free to all participants. Educational materials and free software for image viewing and manipulation are provided to registered participants. Each ZOYC will include a combination of lectures and hands-on labs; all material is applicable to microscopy systems from all manufacturers.
