Australia launches national nanotechnology research strategy
(Nanowerk News) The National Nanotechnology Research Strategy was launched by Senator the Hon Kate Lundy on 7 December 2012.
Outlining a bold vision for a nanotechnology enabled Australian Economy; the research strategy highlights a range of existing and emerging nanotechnology applications. The strategy includes eight key recommendations for strategic investment and coordination considered essential for supporting Australian nanotechnology research and effective translation of that research into benefits for the community.
This research strategy goes on to highlight Australia’s current research strengths across a broad range of nanotechnology disciplines and subsequently identify opportunities for these strengths to be leveraged over the coming decade.
Preparation of the strategy included broad consultation with the research community, including release of an Exposure Draft and hosting stakeholder engagement workshops around the country. The strategy was prepared by the Academy with funding received from the National Enabling Technologies Policy Section in the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education.
