Nanotechnology in Texas - companies, research, and degree programs
(Nanowerk News) Texas has a burgeoning research and commercial nanotechnology environment. After California, Massachusetts, New York, Texas has the most nanotechnology relevant institutions in the U.S. Rice University and The University of Texas have large and well-respected nanotechnology research programs.
Currently, there are 71 companies in Texas involved in nanotechnology-related business activities.
In addition, there are 50 nanotechnology and nanoscience-related research and community organizations in Texas.
Nissan Chemical America Corporation produces colloidal silicas and metal oxide solutions for scratch-resistant coatings for eyeglass lenses, automobile clear coats, and many other plastic parts needing protective coatings. The company also produce high-purity colloidal silicas used in the production of polishing slurries for the semiconductor industry.
