Evonetix is a start-up company set to revolutionise de novo gene synthesis to facilitate the fast-growing and exciting field of synthetic biology. Our technology is based upon a novel silicon array, manufactured with semiconductor microfabrication techniques and capable of independent control of 10,000 miniaturised reaction sites, allowing massive parallelism in the DNA synthesis process and therefore very high throughput.

We’re looking to grow our multidisciplinary team by hiring talented, innovative and ambitious people who are seeking to develop and commercialise a disruptive technology.

Job Description:

  • Educated to BSc/MSc/PhD level in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or significant industrial experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Working knowledge of practical synthetic chemistry and purification techniques.
  • Current experience with analytical methods including NMR, MS, IR, HPLC.
  • Experience with surface chemistry analytical techniques such as XPS, Raman, CV, AFM, STM, fluorescence microscopy, SPR.
  • Ability to work effectively and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team or independently.
  • Willingness to learn and understand other scientific and engineering requirements for the purposes of integrating technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of lab safety including COSHH/HSE and risk assessments.
  • Experience in synthetic route design.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Chemdraw, Reaxys and instrumentation software such as HPLC, MS.
