Organization Description:

NanoGUNE is a Cooperative Research Center or "CIC" (from the Spanish "Centro de Investigación Cooperativa). Cooperative Research Centers were launched by the Basque Government in order to create an effective framework of cooperation in strategic research areas, strengthen interdisciplinary basic and applied worldclass research in those areas and provide technology transfer to the industrial environment.  

CIC nanoGUNE focuses its research activities on the following four major strategic areas:
  • Physics of low-dimensional structures, nanostructures and nanoscale structured complex systems.
  • Synthesis, assembling and nanofabrication of nanomaterials (nanoparticles, nanotubes, thin films, nanocomposites) and nanostructured materials.
  • Development of nanodevices and its impact on molecular electronics, spintronics, nanomagnetism and nanophotonics.
 
Job Description:

The positions are available in the Nanodevices group, led by Luis E. Hueso and F. Casanova. The group is currently composed of 20 members including senior and junior researchers and counts with extensive research facilities for fabrication and characterization of devices. There are several active research lines spanning from nanofabrication to 2D electronics and spin transport, while more information can be found at http://nanodevices.nanogune.eu

Requirements:

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in physics, materials science or chemistry. Experience in experimental techniques related to (nano-)fabrication, materials growth and characterisation, and electrical transport measurements will be strongly valued.

The candidate should have a strong track record in publications at the highest level. In addition, he/she should be self-motivated and a team player willing to coordinate the research in a particular topic. We encourage the candidates to present proposals for specific research topics under the main lines outlined above
Proficiency in spoken and written English is compulsory.
