Russian companies and universities will take part in GRAPHENE 2012

(Nanowerk News) Between April 10 and 13, 2012 the congress center Brussels44Center will host the 2nd European Conference and Exhibition on the Graphene technology GRAPHENE'2012, which will get together over 700 companies, universities, laboratories, research centers and also industrialists, politicians and investors. The event is organized by the non-profit organization Phantoms Foundation, Catholic University Luvana (Belgium), Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology ICN, French National Center for Scientific Research CNRS.
Supported by the Ministry of Education and Science, members of top Russian research institutes and companies developing nanocarbon materials will participate in the Exhibition and the related scientific event.
The best schools of Russia will show their findings in the pavilion of the Russian Federation. Various-type cathode-fluorescent lamps with power supply, samples of free-standing diamond films and a number of other exhibits will be presented by the Lomonosov Moscow State University. A.M. Prokhorov Institute of General Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences will present the PErL micro-femtosecond laser produced by the AVESTA Company with replaceable saturable absorber of single-walled nanotubes or graphene and also saturable absorbers based on graphene. The booth of the Institute of Geology of the Karelia Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences will demonstrate specimens of schungite nanocarbon water dispersion.
Toroidal-shaped carbon nanoclusters of the fulleroid type ASTRALERN-?, ? will be demonstrated by the CJSC «Research and Technological Center of Applied Nanotechnologies». In addition, the booth of the Company will show broad-band optic photochrome power limiters of the photocurrent and anti-vandal ornamental, anticorrosion-protective waterproof coating.
The CJSC «Center of Promising Technologies» will present samples of HOPG and HAPG, intended for the use as atomically-smooth conducting substrates in scanning probe microscopy and for obtaining high-quality graphene by micromechanical chipping. In addition, the Exhibition visitors will see a demo-version of the program «FemtoScanOnline», which was developed for processing and analysis of the images of scanning probe microscopy. The software supports the formats of the main manufacturers of probe microscopes. This program is used to construct 3D and stereoscopic images of the surface and simulate flight over the surface. The program comprises a number of functions for the automatic analysis of objects: change in dimensions, area, volume, persistent length, automatic object search and functions for analysis of power curves are envisaged.
The booth of the LLC «?kKoLab» will demonstrate full-scale specimens of dispersion of graphene oxide in the water and also in an organic solvent. The Company will also present high-temperature reduced graphene and the graphene of LLC «?kKoLab».
The business program of the conference GRAPHENE'2012 will include several roundtables and conferences on «Graphene chemistry and materials», «Simulation of materials and instruments as based on graphene», «Integrated approaches to graphene, using Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy». Members of the Russian delegation Yuri Lozovik, the world leading graphene theorist, Head, Laboratory of Spectroscopy of Nanostructures, Institute of Spectroscopy, RAS; Professor, Moscow Physics and Technology Institute (MFTI), will read a paper on «Collective Properties of Dirac Electrons in Graphene ». The paper on «Correlation of Excess Electrons in Graphene: Effects of Attraction, Magnetism and Mechanics will be read by Elena Sheka, Dr (Physical and Mathematical Sc.), Professor; Head, Research Laboratory, People's Friendship University. Alexander Obraztsov, Dr Sc. (Physics and Mathematics), Professor, Physical Faculty, Moscow State University; Head,, Laborat ory of Promising Carbon Materials, Department of Physics of Polymers and Crystals , Faculty of Physics, Moscow State University, will present a paper on «Graphene Materials for the Field Mission Application». The possibilities for the application of graphene for lasers will be discussed by Elena Obraztsova, Head, Laboratory of Spectroscopy of Nanomaterials and Institute of General Physics. Natalia Rozhkova, Cand. Sc. (Geology and Mineralogy), Leading Researcher, Institute of Geology, Karelia Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, the author and developer of a unique molecular schungite-origine graphene, will read a paper of the schungite molecular graphene.
