NanoString Technologies Appoints Alan Dance as Chief Commercial Officer

(Nanowerk News) NanoString Technologies, Inc. announced today that industry veteran Alan Dance has joined the Company as Chief Commercial Officer.
"Alan’s hire marks the next milestone in building out the commercial team as we move quickly towards commercial launch of the nCounterTM Analysis System for our first application of gene expression," said H. Perry Fell, Ph.D., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NanoString. "With Alan leading Sales, Marketing and Business Development, we are well positioned to address the significant market opportunity that exists for highly sensitive, reproducible, multiplexed nucleic acid analysis."
"The NanoString technology enables experiments that were previously not considered practical due to a combination of cost and complexity. Now researchers can cost effectively validate gene expression profiles for hundreds of transcripts without giving up sensitivity or introducing the risk of enzymatic bias. I am thrilled to be part of a company that will play such an important role in translating genomic discoveries into real benefits for patients in the clinic,” said Alan Dance.
Alan Dance brings over 24 years of industry experience in corporate development, sales, and marketing to NanoString. About NanoString Technologies, Inc.
NanoString Technologies is a life sciences tool company that has developed a novel technology for creating molecular barcodes for tagging individual molecules in a biological sample. This technology is at the heart of the nCounter Analysis System which enables researchers to do what they cannot do now -- perform assays on hundreds of genes in a single tube with the sensitivity and precision they require. This innovation is ideally suited for targeted gene studies in research, translational medicine and, in the future, molecular diagnostics. NanoString is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.
