This Aalto University group focuses on surface engineering and thin films, developing materials with enhanced functional properties for sensors, energy storage, high-performance tool coatings, coated components and new applications. Research areas include hybrid nanocarbon thin films for biosensing, hybrid materials based on nanocellulose and carbon nanotube/diamond-like carbon thin films, and functional thin films made by physical vapor deposition and ALD.
