Nanotechnology in British Columbia

(Nanowerk News) Between November 2006 and February 2007 Nanotech BC, with financial contributions from the British Columbia Ministry of Economic Development and Industry Canada, undertook a survey of the academic and industrial landscape for nanotechnology in British Columbia.
Key information about the nanotechnology capabilities of over 80 principal researchers and 19 BC businesses was collected. The results of the survey will provide an invaluable resource describing the academic and industrial nanotechnology activities within British Columbia. The survey data was assembled during the first quarter of 2007.
This work represents the most comprehensive description of British Columbia's nanotechnology research capabilities and interests to date. A full written report is in production with the support of the BC Ministry of Economic Development. The report will include a directory of the province's key researchers and information on receptor/developer companies.
Businesses and researchers that did not participate in the 2007 survey can still include their information on the real-time survey sites. Research participants should go to www.canadaconnects.ca/nanotechbc/ while industry participants should go to www.nanotechbc.ca/main/industry/.
Two web-based survey sites were constructed for academic and industrial participants to add input directly. In addition to direct interviews and survey information, institutional databases at key universities and provincial and federal granting databases were reviewed to create the most comprehensive view of the nanotechnology community in BC to date.
The full written report will follow soon.
