The minor programme in Nanoscience is offered by the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Science.
AAS Degree in Nanotechnology with Emphasis in Vacuum Technology and Surface Science or Semiconductor Process Technician. This program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to perform as a technician in semiconductor manufacturing. This occupation provides a variety of employment opportunities in vacuum technology, optical manufacturing, manufacturing operations such as electron beam machining or electron beam welding and the manufacture of semiconductors. Other positions may include responsibilities associated with operations, technical sales and quality control.
The Nanoscience Technology program is a collaborative effort between North Dakota State College of Science and Minnesota State Community and Technical College-Moorhead. Students may enroll and earn a degree through either college.
Cross disciplinary in nature, the AAS-T degree combines elements of materials science, chemistry, biology and physics, electronics and engineering. Students will be exposed to clean room procedures including an understanding and maintenance of nano/micro fabrication and characterization equipment.
The two year program will provide graduates with the skills to operate systems and equipment associated with Canada's emerging nanotechnology industry and lead to a Diploma in Nanotechnology Systems.
