COMSTECH to hold workshop on nanomedicine, bioethics education

(Nanowerk News) The Organization of Islamic Conference Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) is organizing a week-long international workshop on nanomedicine from March 13-20, 2008.
The workshop is being held in collaboration with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.
The workshop aims at providing a platform to researchers from universities and research institutes of OIC member states to share their knowledge and develop collaborative research programs in nanomedicine.
Young faculty members/doctors, researchers and senior students working at the interface of nanoscience, nanomedicine or nanbiotechnology are eligible to apply for participation.
The aspiring participants are required to have at least masters’ degree in physical/biological sciences or bachelor degree in medicine with one year of research experience.
COMSTECH has notified universities and research institutes of OIC region to send maximum two nominations.
Meanwhile, COMTECH is also organizing a national workshop on “Bioethics Education in Pakistan” from March 27-29, 2008.
The workshop would be held in collaboration with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Center of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC) of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation.
The objective of this workshop is to familiarize healthcare professionals and other stakeholders with ethical frameworks in clinical care.
The health care professionals including physicians, nurses, hospital administrations, policy makers and social scientists have been invited to attend workshop.
