2D materials Conferences and Events

Two-dimensional materials are atomically thin or few-layer materials in which properties are dominated by structure, bonding, and interfaces confined to a plane. The field began with graphene but now includes transition metal dichalcogenides, hexagonal boron nitride, black phosphorus, MXenes, layered oxides, 2D polymers, and many other two-dimensional materials. Their behavior depends on layer number, stacking, defects, strain, edges, surface chemistry, substrates, and interactions between layers in van der Waals heterostructures.

2D materials matter because they offer a way to engineer electronic, optical, mechanical, thermal, catalytic, and quantum properties with atomic-scale precision. They are investigated for transistors, sensors, membranes, batteries, supercapacitors, photodetectors, flexible electronics, spintronics, catalysis, coatings, and quantum devices. Their impact comes not only from individual materials, but also from combining layers into tailored van der Waals materials and heterostructures with designed interfaces.

Conferences on 2D materials include dedicated meetings as well as tracks within nanotechnology, materials science, physics, chemistry, electronics, photonics, and energy programs. Sessions often cover synthesis, exfoliation, chemical vapor deposition, characterization, device integration, graphene, low-dimensional materials, and scalable manufacturing. This makes 2D materials a key conference category for following both fundamental discoveries and emerging device platforms.
