As advances in materials and process technology in nanoelectronics are inherently linked with enhanced fundamental understanding, the Materials and Component Analysis department (MCA) plays an important role within imec by providing feedback on materials modifications induced during various process steps. The MCA laboratory disposes over state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to semiconductor analysis (AES, AFM, Atomprobe, EDS, ERD, FIB, Raman, RBS, SIMS, SSRM, TEM, TOFSIMS, XPS, etc.). Among those, TEM/FIB is a crucial technique for imaging most advanced materials and device structures and determining their elemental composition. Our state-of-the-art TEM and FIB systems are operated in service mode in a 24/7 regime with an emphasis on high volume output. Faced with the continuing demand for higher volume, shorter turnaround times and more complex technical challenges, we are looking for an Operational Manager for our TEM/FIB lab and Analysis Service.
You will be responsible for the daily operation and organization of the TEM/FIB service targeting an optimum output in terms of quality, volume, turnaround time and customer satisfaction.
Your tasks will include:
Manage the daily TEM/FIB operations (planning of the requests, prioritization, follow-up of the work flow, report evaluation, interfacing with customers and program managers).
Optimize the operational procedures of the TEM/FIB service leading to high quality, high volume and short turnaround time.
Create detailed reporting to monitor the service operation.
People management of the service team members.
Organize complementary external resources, if necessary.
Follow up of system maintenance and repair (interaction with suppliers, cost control, scheduling, etc.).
Organize TEM/FIB training for new members of the service team.
Interact closely with senior scientific staff to stimulate advances in technical approaches, to implement methodological developments and jointly define long term research activities.
You have a PhD degree in Engineering, Physics or equivalent through relevant experience.
You have a background in TEM analysis and good knowledge of semiconductor processing.
In addition to excellent knowledge of TEM and FIB capabilities, you possess a basic knowledge on other analysis techniques.
You have strong managerial competences, communication skills and are experienced in analytical Lab management.
The imec environment requires a good and flexible team player with competent communication skills.
The day-to-day contact with your customers requires a fluency in English.
