The rapid growth of mobile communication has put very demanding challenges on the design of the radio front-end of new devices. Several new applications and standards have appeared, and each of them requires new designs and innovative solutions to create a cost and power effective analog RF front-end. Moreover, future devices will have to combine multiple standards in a single device, will have to switch between standards on the fly, and will have to operate at low power.
Imec is doing research on the implementation challenges of new standards in advanced silicon technologies. Current mobile communications research programs are in the area of reconfigurable radios, mm-wave communications and reconfigurable digital modems. As part of a multidisciplinary expert team your tasks will include:
Active participation in the definition, design and implementation of analog and RF building blocks and complete analog transceivers for mm-wave communication and reconfigurable radio;
Test and validation of your designs in our laboratory;
Collaboration with specialists from other teams;
Support of external partners that use our technology.
You will also set the future roadmap for the group’s research activities.
You have a Master of Science or a PhD degree in Electronics. You have at least five years of analog design experience and you have designed in CMOS technology. Experience in the field of RFIC design and experience in an industrial context are a plus.
You are fascinated by the possibilities of analog design, willing to contribute to all levels of the design process and dedicated to obtain state-of-the-art results. You are eager to take initiatives and have good oral and written communication skills. The international character of imec requires that you are able to express yourself fluently in English.
