| (Nanowerk News) Each year, millions of Americans go under the knife to surgically correct a multitude of problems, whether it’s related to an illness, disease, or injury. These procedures are oftentimes major and invasive, requiring work on critical organs and later requiring long recovery times and specific treatment plans. | |
 Ben Kingsley While advances in instrumentation and diagnostics have continued to make surgery easier for the physicians and the patients, the implementation of nanotechnology, or microscopic robotics, could be the next major movement in the surgical fields. By utilizing “smart” devices that can barely be seen by the naked eye, doctors could potentially have the ability to correct certain ailments without even making an incision. The "Outlook with Ben Kingsley" program will be partnering with the innovators on the forefront of this revolution, along with doctors who can apply this technology, in efforts to create programming that adequately conveys these possibilities to consumers and patients. By eliminating the need for certain surgical procedures, patients can live happier and healthier lives with far lower risk. These new programs will make their debut this fall. |
