UAlbany NanoCollege hosts more than 300 middle- and high-school students for NanoCareer Day

(Nanowerk News) Amid the rapid growth of nanotechnology-related career opportunities in the Capital Region and across New York State, the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany will hold its popular NanoCareer Day program for students on Wednesday, December 5.
During their visit to the NanoCollege, more than 300 middle- and high-school students from across New York will learn more about the critical science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills that will enable them to take advantage of the growing number of nanotechnology-centered careers, many of which are based at CNSE, the most advanced university-driven research enterprise in the world.
NanoCareer Day includes unique presentations by CNSE faculty members on the exciting science of nanotechnology; hands-on activities showcasing the role of nanoscale research and development, including an investigation of polymer chains, the opportunity to extract DNA, and the chance to learn about health at the nano level; and tours of CNSE’s unrivalled Albany NanoTech Complex, which has generated more than $14 billion in high-tech investments.
Participating schools and their counties include: Tech Valley High School (Rensselaer); Albany High School, City School District of Albany (Albany); Bethlehem Central, Middle and High Schools, Bethlehem Central School District (Albany); Ilion Jr. Sr. High School, Ilion Central School District (Herkimer); Broadalbin-Perth Middle School, Broadalbin-Perth Central School District (Fulton); Poland Middle/High School, Poland Central School District (Herkimer); Ballston Scholars Program, Ballston Spa Central School District (Saratoga); Sharon Springs Central School, Sharon Springs Central School District (Schoharie); Schoharie High School, Schoharie Central School District (Schoharie); and Watervliet Junior Senior High School, Watervliet City School District (Albany County).
